Terms

 

NO PURCHASE IS REQUIRED. Our scholarships are intended only for the residents of Illinois. To be awarded our Community Scholarship requires the following:

  1. Completion of the application

  • age and residency information, the name of the institution you are or will be attending, a valid email and mailing address, and a contact phone number.

 

NOT AFFILIATED OR DIRECTLY ENDORSED 
Our scholarships are the sole property of West Suburban Community Development Corporation (WSCDC) and their sponsors. None of our scholarships are affiliated, sponsored by or directly endorsed by any school, college, institution of higher education, university or government entity.

 

SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 
Our scholarship is open to any individual, accepted or enrolled in an institute of higher education. Applicants must be permanent residents, refugees or qualified immigrants of Illinois.

By participating in our offered scholarships, entrant fully and unconditionally agrees to and accepts these Official Rules and the decisions of WSCDC (also referred to as “the Sponsor,” “we” or “us”), which are final and binding.

OFFERING A SUCCESSFUL ENTRY TO WSCDC’S SCHOLARSHIPS
To successfully apply for any one of our scholarships, an individual must complete the specific online application associated with the scholarship and associated requirements.  Each applicant may enter each specific scholarship competition once during the posted registration time frame.

 

TECHNICAL ISSUES
Neither we nor any of the various interests that may help to sponsor our scholarships are responsible for entries containing technical errors of any kind. This includes an entrant omitting or deleting any information, or data that is corrupted on submission. Similarly, each applicant is solely responsible for ensuring their entry is complete and not invalid, compromised, corrupted or otherwise inadmissible. 

Entries that are intentionally or otherwise falsified, incomplete, damaged or fail to meet basic requirements of a specified scholarship will be immediately disqualified.

All entries for any scholarships become the property of www.Wscdc17.org and will not be returned. We are not responsible for any claims, liabilities or damages in conjunction with the Scholarship of any specific scholarships mentioned or offered on this site. We are not responsible for any liabilities, damages or claims made in conjunction with the process of adhering to the scholarship rules.

We reserve the right to disqualify entrants for any reason, at any time. Scholarship rules, dates, and guidelines are subject to updates and/or modifications at any time and for any reason, without notification.

In the event of a dispute as to the identity of an entrant, entries will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. The "authorized account holder" is further defined as the person granted use of an e-mail address assigned by an Internet access provider, business or other entity responsible for managing e-mail addresses on the associated domain.

 

WINNER SELECTION PROCESS 
Unless otherwise noted three (6) winners will be selected by the online voting audience for each specific scholarship (Business, Technology, and Communications). The winner's information and submission will be confirmed by a scholarship review panel. The decisions of the scholarship review panel are final as to the awarded (3) winners.

Any use of personal information will be in accordance with our posted general Privacy Statement. The potential winner will be notified by two ways:  e-mail and by telephone.

If a potential finalist or winner cannot be contacted after reasonable effort expended over a 14 (fourteen) day period, the potential finalist/winner forfeits their claim and a secondary entrant may be selected in his/her place. Potential winners must comply with all terms and conditions of the official rules and winning will be contingent upon fulfilling all requirements previously mentioned.

 

PAYMENT OF AWARD
The scholarship monies will be paid via Check or Visa card directly to the * winner’s school upon verification that the winner is qualified and adhered to appropriate protocols with the application and submission process. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and votes. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES AND ANY OTHER COSTS AND EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF THE AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

Scholarships are awarded WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, express or implied, without limitation. If the winner chooses not to accept his/her Scholarship, an alternate winner may be chosen. The award will be paid in one lump sum as indicated above

 

SUBSTITUTION & ASSIGNMENT. 
Each Scholarship or award is non-transferable. www.Wscdc17.org  (the Sponsor) reserves the right to substitute a Scholarship of equal or greater value at its own discretion.

 

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY. 
By participating, entrants

(a): Agree that WSCDC and their respective agents, affiliates, subsidiaries, service providers, and agencies, and their directors, officers, agents, employees, attorneys, volunteers and any other person or entity associated with such entities and/or scholarship shall not be liable for any and all claims, damages, losses or injuries, including any third party claims, arising from or relating to, in whole or in part, these scholarships, including entry and participation in these scholarships and acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the Scholarship(s).

(b) Agree that WSCDC and its employees and agents have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact, or in law, relative to any Scholarship including, but not limited to, its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose.

(c) Agree to be bound by the official rules and the decisions of WSCDC scholarship panel and/or board  (including but not limited to eligibility determinations) which are final and binding in all respects.

(d) Consent to use of his/her name, photograph and/or likeness and any statements made or attributed to the principals for advertising and promotional purposes in connection with our scholarships without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

All entrants further agree that in the event of any third party claims, damages, losses or injuries, arising from or relating to a scholarship or scholarship * offered on this site, they will indemnify WSCDC from any and all such claims, including the attorneys' fees related thereto. WSCDC shall not be liable for entries and winner notification responses that are technically damaged, incomplete, lost or otherwise unusable. WSCDC is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, inaccurate or misdirected entries, whether caused by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of the entries for a scholarship; computer system, phone line, computer equipment or computer malfunctions, software, program malfunctions or other failures, or other errors or delays; or network connections that are human, mechanical or technical in nature.

Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, WSCDC and its employees' and agents' liability will be limited to the cost of entering and participating in the scholarship, and in no event shall the released parties be liable for attorney's fees. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct or indirect damages. ANY PERSON ATTEMPTING TO DEFRAUD OR IN ANY WAY TAMPER WITH A SCHOLARSHIP OFFERED ON THIS SITE WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR SCHOLARSHIPS AND MAY BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WSCDC reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel or suspend any scholarship should viruses, bugs or other causes beyond their control corrupt the administration, security or proper play of the scholarship.  WSCDC further reserves the right to modify the rules of each scholarship in any way or at any time. Notice of any such changes will be posted on our website.

 

DISPUTES
Each scholarship is governed by the laws of Illinois, without respect to conflict of law doctrines. As a condition of participation, participants agree that any and all disputes which cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or in connection with a scholarship shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in Illinois having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will participants be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waive all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, including attorneys' fees, other than participant's actual out-of-pocket expenses (e.g. costs associated with entering), and participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
